In 2025 Ongaonga School introduced the Hero student management system. Hero enables whānau to notify the school if your children are away, give permission for trips and outings, receive notices and reminders, view their child's progress, receive newsletters and reports. Hero is our primary means of communication.

Friends of Ongaonga School (FOOS)
Friends of Ongaonga School (FOOS) is a dedicated committee run by our trusty school families, focused on organizing events and raising funds to enhance our school community.
Throughout the year, FOOS handles key logistics for major organized events - such as managing the food tent, running raffles, and coordinating spot prizes at the annual Onga 7’s as well as organising the annual trail ride.
How the funds support our school:
Classroom Resources: Purchasing extra learning tools and equipment for our students
School Transport: Funding and maintaining the school van for outings, sports, and trips
Playground Upgrades: Continually improving and expanding our outdoor play areas
FOOS brings our families together to directly enrich the learning environment, facilities, and opportunities available for every child at Ongaonga School.
