Who are we?

The Parents School Support Group (SSG) is the Fundraising Sub-Committee of the Ongaogna School Board of Trustees and its main role is to raise funds for items outside the Schools Ministry of Education budget; and those that would enhance our children's learning, the classrooms, the outdoor environment and the sporting and cultural dimensions of the school life.

All parents and caregivers of any child enrolled at the Ongaonga Primary School are automatic members of the Parents School Support Group. The level of involvement in the Parents School Support Group is fluid depending on desire, time available, confidence and capacity.

The School Support Group relies on parents, staff, businesses and the community’s ongoing support and participation to achieve its goals. Our focus is to provide fun activities that bring together the pupils and families of our school to foster the community spirit. One of the key responsibilities of the School Support Group is to organise fundraising events for the School. These include larger events such as the Trail Bike Ride, 7-A-Side Tournament etc.

Some of these events serve not only as fundraising opportunities but have developed over the years to be integral parts of the schools social calendar and are looked forward to by everyone associated with school as well as the wider community.
