Board of Trustees (BOT)
The Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is the governing body that is responsible for setting the direction of the school including governance, and the control of management of the school, managing the physical environment and overseeing Legislative (Ministry of Education) and Regulatory (OSH) requirements.
This means taking part in the shaping and monitoring of the school’s objectives, priorities and general policy directions. In addition, other functions are specified in the legislation.
The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the school in consultation with parents and staff and ensuring that the school provides a safe environment and quality education for the students.
The Board is responsible for overseeing the management of personnel, property, finance and administration. The Board does not have a role in school management. This is the responsibility of the Principal and involves educational leadership and the effective day-to-day administration, supervision and control of the school and its staff.
In general it’s the Boards role to promote the school in the community and encourage our learners, staff and community to be:
- CONNECTED – by using technology and interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships
- RESILIENT – by having self-confidence, self-belief and the ability to problem solve and take risks
- RESPONSIVE – by adapting to situations and being actively motivated to be the best they can be
- REFLECTIVE – by knowing where they are at, where they want to get to and by having the resourcefulness to get there
Membership
The members of the Board are the Principal, a staff representative and elected parents. Elections for the Board are held every three years, with the latest election being held in May 2010. Here are the current board members (as at Nov 2010):

The board meets on regular occasions during the school year (February to December) and has a reporting function to the Ministry of Education, the School Support Group and Parents. Dates are on the school calendar and published in the newsletters. Minutes are available for viewing from the school office.
